Driving with Autism

We were recently contacted online about providing information about autistic individuals achieving the goal of learning to drive. It is very valuable information for most families whose son or daughter’s with autism has ever raised the question of acquiring their licenses to drive. Here’s the information that was shared with us. Follow the link for more information.

Dr. Brown

Hi there,

I hope you're doing well. While exploring the information you shared on sfcmissionsoutreach.org/post/resources-for-your-autistic-child, I was impressed by your commitment to providing practical support for autistic individuals and their families.

One area that often receives less attention is driving. For many autistic teens and adults, learning to drive can be an important step toward independence, but it can also come with challenges related to sensory sensitivities, anxiety, communication, and handling unexpected situations on the road. So, to help address these concerns, we created a free guide that brings together practical driving tips, safety strategies, and information designed specifically for autistic drivers and the people who support them:

Several parents, caregivers, and individuals on the spectrum have found the information helpful as they navigate the process of becoming safe, confident drivers. Because your website already serves this community, I thought it might be a valuable addition to your existing resources.

If you feel it would benefit your audience, would you consider including it on your site?

Thank you for the work you do and for taking the time to review this resource. I appreciate your consideration. If you'd prefer not to receive future emails from me, just let me know and I'll gladly remove you from my outreach list.

Best regards,

Monica
